Julie Shymansky

Julie is a Pittsburgh, PA mixed media artist focused on abstract florals and landscapes. She has been painting for over 25 years. Being entirely self-taught, her artwork flows from emotion. Her dynamic paintings are filled with color, light, and movement. Her floral abstracts balance beauty, wonder and harmony with free-flowing and spontaneous strokes. The viewer is invited to become lost and immersed in a playground of color, drama, and dancing light. 

Inspired by a love of interiors, she started painting to create artwork for her own home. That endeavor expanded into building a client base who treasure her paintings in their homes. The purchase process is personal so that the perfect piece is selected to settle into the buyer’s home and *heart*. She creates works that are both energetic and soothing. 

She uses multiple mediums in her work: oils, inks, acrylics, metallics, and resins, and often adds interference paints to reflect hidden color. She was recently the featured artist at The Frick Pittsburgh Winterfest Weekend 2024 and has shown in galleries and at private client events in Pittsburgh and California.
